As Canada and individual states in America begin to legalize growing cannabis in the household, there has been a strong push back from fire departments, real estate boards and condominium boards alike. The main argument from these interest groups is that growing cannabis in the household is unsafe, a fire hazard, and can cause serious mold and mildew issues. Their argument is only half correct though, applying only to those home grow setups that use High Intensity Discharge (HID) lighting or LED lighting that is not ETL certified.

WATCH OUT FOR SCAMS AND ETL 'COMPONENTS'
Be educated in your equipment purchases, and look for equipment that carries the ETL logo, not just "ETL components". This is a common trick companies use, suggesting that their product is ETL certified when really it just contains ETL components. There is no way of knowing whether the product is safe, how many components are actually ETL listed, or whether the final product is assembled according to North American safety guidelines.
